The Yagua Robusto delivers a distinctive smoking experience rooted in an old Cuban cigar-making tradition. Crafted with an underfermented Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a blend of Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, it offers a rich, dark flavor profile highlighted by notes of cocoa, espresso, cedar, earth, and pepper. The unique wrapper not only contributes to the cigar’s character but also plays an important role in its unmistakable rustic appearance.
Handmade at J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory in Nicaragua, Yagua cigars are rolled without the use of traditional molds or presses. While still wet, the cigars are tightly bundled together and wrapped in yagua palm leaves, recreating a technique inspired by the way Lazaro Lopez’s grandfather crafted cigars in Cuba during the 1940s.
Presented in a shorter, broader Robusto format, each cigar develops its own slightly irregular shape as it dries within the palm-leaf bundle. The result is a uniquely handcrafted cigar that combines Nicaraguan richness, old-world tradition, and unmistakable character in every smoke.
