Meerapfel, the esteemed cultivator of Cameroon tobacco, is returning to its roots with the creation of an ultra-premium cigar line bearing the family name. Today, the Belgian-based company unveils the Meerapfel cigar—an exclusive brand crafted to embody the pinnacle of luxury and craftsmanship.
Renowned for their expertise in cultivating Cameroon leaf—a rare and flavorful wrapper known for its unique texture and character—the Meerapfel family has played a vital role in preserving this prized tobacco. Richard Meerapfel, who passed away in 2003, is credited with rescuing Cameroon tobacco from near extinction. His legacy continues through his son, Jeremiah Meerapfel, now chairman of the company, who reveals that this project has been in the making since his father’s passing. “This project was born the day my father passed,” says Jeremiah, who was just 25 at the time.
The Meerapfel cigar is the result of an uncompromising vision to redefine luxury in the cigar world. Crafted using some of the oldest and most treasured tobaccos the company has preserved, this cigar not only honors a family legacy but also sets a new standard for sophistication and tradition in the modern cigar landscape.
